USA
SPACE SHUTTLE

The US Space Shuttle, which is the most complex piece of machinery ever created, contains engines that have a combined thrust of 1.2 million pounds.

During their 13 days in orbit, its crew delivered and attached a truss-segment, re-wired the space station's power system, delivered a new astronaut, took another astronaut back to earth, and brought in more than 2 tons of new supplies.

To read all the fascinating details of this incredible mission, go to the
NASA
overview account.
(which is not much of an achievement as a website!)

Our achievements in outer space however, are beyond comprehension and deserve a national celebration of our astronauts, as well as a profound sense of pride in the engineers and scientists who have created such
truly incredible advances.
